About the role

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Data and AI Architect to join our team to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-level data solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, be able to balance the strategic aspects of defining the data and AI architecture strategy, target states, and roadmaps for Data architecture but also operationally play a key role in supporting the growing demand for accessible, reliable and quality data & insights at The Smith Family.  You will bring a strong software engineering background and experience designing, implementing, and deploying code and infrastructure on cloud platforms—especially in the context of data platforms and AI workloads. 

 

Reporting to the Group Manager, Data & AI, you will:

 

  • Design and develop data architecture and AI solutions that align with business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Implement and optimize data models, pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Support data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance with regulations, enabling the organisation to make informed decisions and gain a competitive advantage.  Ensure high quality, integrity, and security across all data systems.
  • Show passion for learning and staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in data architecture and AI technologies. 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Data and AI team members.

 

About you

 

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following: 

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, AI Architect, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern data platforms, including Azure Data lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Purview, CI/CD Pipelines, and Azure DevOps
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices and their application to modern data solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries and Open AI and other LLMs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
