The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education. 
 
We are seeking experienced casual facilitators to join our organisation. Reporting to the Programs Facilitator Manager and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will work across our participating schools in Dubbo, NSW where our 'Learning for Life' students are enrolled.  You facilitate to the whole class, so everyone gets the benefit of these extra-curriculum programs. Programs run intermittently, as required by the participating schools. It would suit a facilitator with at least two available days per week.  Scheduling can fit around your other part time/casual work/study commitments, however availability on Thursdays in Term 3 would be beneficial. Training and resources supplied.
 
About our role
 
You will be responsible for delivering one or more of the following programs dependent on participating school needs:
 

  • One hour a week for 6 weeks to assist Year 6 students transition to secondary school (Passport to Success)
  • Facilitating engaging sessions to high school students for 1.5 hrs a week for 5 weeks within a term about budgets, savings, loans and other money topics (Keep the Change)
  • Increasing Years 4-6 and/or junior secondary students’ knowledge of the world of work, and how these relate to their own interests and strengths in 5-7 one-hour sessions (Future Seekers)
  • and other programs including Entrepreneurship and Career activities.

 
About you
 
As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:
 

  • Demonstrated qualifications and/or experience in the delivery of training programs or classroom-based learning.
  • A current drivers licence, access to a reliable and insured vehicle and a willingness to travel up to one hour each way to deliver the program sessions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage your time effectively.
  • Commitment to The Smith Family’s Facilitator Quality Standards, informed by existing frameworks including the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. 
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check
